As soon as local author David Beasley began reading excerpts from one of his books, he captured and retained our attention. We learned of his personal adventures as a young man in New York, London, Paris, Vienna and Ibiza, Spain. He told us of his writing regime in an exotic local which was punctuated by a swimming in the Mediterranean. No word processors or computers, just writing with his hand.

Now what he told us is reminiscent of a writer like Henry Miller. Very frank descriptions of adult relationships with lady friends coupled with his travels and discoveries of art and European culture. It is what every young man dreams of when he graduates from college or university. It isn't recommended that you purchase this book as a sleep aide.

David also has an interest in regional history. This was displayed in discussions prior to the presentation. There were a number of questions from the audience. And one sticks out, the questioner wanted to know how he can recall the details of his life for example in the 1950's, given his age. The man must have an exceptional memory quite a bonus for a someone that writes.

As an observer of many speakers over many, many years, there has been no other like David Beasley. You can purchase his work at The Eva Brook Donly Museum in Simcoe and the The Book Factory in the Simcoe Canadian Tire Mall. Also the website http://www.davuspublishing.com/ contains a wealth of information.
