THE JEFF SCOTT MEMORIAL BURSARY FOR THE MEDICAL ARTS

Jeff, as he was known to his fellow Rotarians and to all his friends was an active member of the Rotary Club of Simcoe for over 17 years and heavily involved with youth sports in Simcoe and Norfolk County.

In 2020, The Rotary Club of Simcoe established a Memorial Bursary Fund in his name for a graduate of a Norfolk Secondary School entering into one of Allied Medical Arts. Jeff was totally devoted to his children while operating an extremely busy Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Clinic in Simcoe.  He always found time to be a help to his friends as well as participate in the many Rotary activities to support the club’s community and international projects. For his ongoing efforts in Rotary and his active participation in supporting youth sports and community service. he was the recipient of a multiple Paul Harris Fellow.

In view of Jeff’s heavy involvement and commitment to youth and the community, such a bursary program seemed to be most appropriate way to recognize his life and service to others.

A REMEMBERANCE

"Now for a remembrance of my experience with Jeff, the Physiotherapist.  I had a knee replacement two years ago.  I think most Rotarians in our Club have had one or more of their joints replaced so they especially would be able to relate.  After a difficult recovery (I had some complications from previous surgeries for old sports injuries), and a number of treatments by his staff, I came to the moment of truth.  By that I mean that Jeff was determined to bend my knee to the 110 or so degree position.  In his largest room filled with other patients, he announced in a loud voice “just want you to know that the screams you are about to hear, will not be from me but rather from Mike Cobb”!
This is the psychological alternative of putting a piece of wood between one’s teeth.  Very strategic as I managed to grin and bear the pain without any sounds from my mouth.
