Operation Eyesight Universal

Operation Eyesight is based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Since its founding in 1963, the organization has been dedicated to "sight -restoration and blindness-prevention."
Countries of focus in Africa are Ghana, Kenya and Zambia and in  South Asia, Nepal and India.  Operation Eyesight currently operates in eight nations: India, Nepal, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, Bangladesh and Liberia, with operations soon to commence in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The organization has helped millions of people. 
 
In 2020, Charity Intelligence Canada (CI) selected Operation Eyesight as one of their Top 10 Impact Charities for the third year in a row, and one of their Top 10 International Impact Charities.

The Cause

The Rotary Club of Simcoe has supported Operation Eyesight Universal for over 30 years. Today, the Club partners with the Norfolk- Sunrise Rotary Club (which is also based in Simcoe, Ontario, Canada) in relation to OEU projects.  The Simcoe Rotary Club is proud to collaborate with the  the Rotary Club of Norfolk-Sunrise .
 
 

The Current Project

The Simcoe Rotary Club has assisted the Norfolk-Sunrise Club with donations to such projects as the Nepal Mobile Vision Centre- Vision On Wheels. With support from service clubs and people like you, Operation Eyesight Universal can continue to screen hundred's of thousands of people for eye conditions, perform over10,000's of surgeries, establish additional vision centres and dispense over 30,000 pairs of prescription eyeglasses in such countries as Nepal.
 
Looking ahead, a new Hospital Based Community Eye Health Project in Malawi, Africa is going to need financial support.
