Jeff, the owner and CEO of Great Lakes Physiotherapy has been a member of The Rotary Club of Simcoe since 2002 and is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow in 2000 and 2014.
On Wednesday, November 25th, 2020, Jeff Scott was struck and killed by a vehicle on a Waterford area road.
Being a physiotherapist, the man with that smile worked on a number of his fellow Rotarians who suffered broken limbs, chronic back problems and underwent surgical procedures such as knee replacements. He even made house calls! Each has a story to tell about their therapeutic sessions. A favourite comment of the writer by a Rotarian is:
"When I was going through rehab last year after the knee reconstruction, Jeff announced to the entire room before one of his brutal treatments 'the screams you will hear next are not mine but Mike Cobb'."
There is a wealth of stories and comments about Jeff from Simcoe Rotarians. The man could sure manage a beer tent and spent countless hours under the tent. As a member of the Sergeant-At-Arms Committee, he could extract fines from from the members with a smile and humour. He also was a proficient fine collector.
Jeff was a Rotarian who knew the meaning of service and volunteerism. He possessed humour and wit.
"As a professional Physiotherapist, I could never reconcile the nice guy with the smile who inflicted so much pain. Thankfully, it was for brief periods of time. Even during these trying but necessary sessions, there was humour, encouragement and just a bit of sympathy."
Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.
It should be the goal of every Rotarian to leave this world in better shape than when he or she entered it. Jeff Scott is one of those Rotarians who did.
