There are just two men in this club who have been Rotarians for over 50 years. B. Wallace (Wally) Anderson became a Simcoe Rotarian in 1957. Ken Smith followed in 1966.
In presenting a caricature of the avid golfer, Rotarian Keith Sutherland (1976) commented that Wally was not just being recognized for his membership longevity of 65 years but for his extensive club contribution and his community involvement. This man has been the recipient of numerous awards and citations.
During his Rotary life, Wally was a extraordinary fundraiser both within the club and in the community. He worked hard for many, many years to obtain sponsorships for The Harold Shantz Memorial Rotary Golf Tournament (formerly Rotary Charity Golf Tournament). He involved himself in all aspects of club service.

Keith Sutherland and Wally Anderson

Wally who was a hardware merchant is always cheerful and quick with a rebuttal to the jokes about his "scratch and dent" appliance sales. Like the one that he never seem to run out of them during a sale.
