The Rotary Club of Simcoe was established in 1925. The club has a long and varied history of community and international service. It is one of the oldest service clubs in Simcoe, Ontario, Canada.
Our 50 members are part of the 1.2 million international family of some 30,000 clubs in over 150 countries. By 2015, polio is confined to a very few countries.
The Rotary Club of Simcoe is part of an international District 7090 of Rotary International in southwestern Ontario and the western counties of New York. There are some 70 Canadian and American clubs with approximately 3,000 members in this unique "international" district which spans the two countries of Canada and the United States of America.
Where Are We?
We are right here in southern Canada. The Town of Simcoe (County of Norfolk) is located 60 kilometers (38 miles) southwest of Hamilton and 35 kilometers (22 miles) south of Brantford, at the intersection of Highways 3 and 24 in the Province of Ontario, Dominion of Canada. Norfolk County is the home of the Long Point Biosphere, the only Carolina forest in Canada and a vibrant, innovative agricultural industry.
The Rotary Family
In 1982, the club was incorporated under the laws of the Province of Ontario as a non profit organization. It's head office is The Norfolk Golf and Country Club, 200 Argyle Street, Simcoe, Ontario N3Y 4L5.
The club has established three new Rotary clubs of which two have survived --The Rotary Clubs of Delhi (1970) and Norfolk Sunrise (1996). The Delhi club is 16.6 kilometres west of Simcoe on Highway # 3.
In addition, the club established the Probus Club of Simcoe and District in 1995 for retired persons. In 2013, the Rotary Club of Simcoe established its first Interact Club for high school students at Waterford High School.
Since its inception, The Rotary Club of Simcoe has raised more than $900,000 for a variety of community and international projects. As a member of The Rotary Club of Simcoe, "we have fun raising money for worthwhile projects" whether it is just down the street or half way around the world.
